cant conect s9 with rs232

hi i updated my s9's firmware,then i uploaded the tp list and reset after that the box never came back and is now stuck with the on sybmol, ive tryed to connect the s9 to my pc with rs232 and keep getting error msg, ive tryed most apps and keep getting the same msg's , ive tryed with usb to serial and null modem cable i cant get it to work pls help im a ultra noob

Hi Yeti
Have you read the help file on the progs posted on the other thread?
It could be a problem with the com port on your PC ~ try changing the com port to COM1, COM2, COM3 etc !

 i read the help files im still having same probs pls reset target or Target not connect or target is error status!

Could be several things wrong ~ are you sure you are using a null modem rs232 cable? ~ is the PC com port active? ~ You are switching the S9 on whilst starting the update loader software as per the helpfile in the "PVR800HD RS232 upgrade tool.rar" directory?. you need to keep trying different switch on timings until it works.
If it all fails then your S9 may be bricked.  There is another upgrade tool I found on the digital world forum ~ here it is .

First connect the computer and receiver with the cable. Then, before trying to connect, turn off the receiver with the back panel switch. Then try to connect with the upgrade program. You will get the message to reset target. Now turn on the receiver from the back panel switch. The computer should then connect with the receiver and do what you want.

how long dose it usaly take to connect? ive left on for ages and nothing happens

I have the same problem... USB ---> RS232... thats the problem... U need 2 connect your recriver 2 deskop computer and use this program You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login or You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login I have 2 laptops in home but i couldnt connect via usb --> rs232 so I found cheep deskop computer 4 30pound on e-bay :D And Its working now :D USE null modem cable!! GOOD LUCK!!
