MediaLink BP problems
« on: January 20, 2011, 01:38:19 PM »
Hello
I have got MediaLink BP 2Ci. I have tried to search many formus and pages, but it is really problem to find anything which can help me.
Assumptions:
I am not satellite specialist
I am not even linux user
Situation:
I have got 2 receivers, updated to lastest firmware from end of december 2010.
Tv work ok, I was able to connect to 8080 and change settings for ccam sharing, so this works also.

Issues which I am facing :
1. card sharing works only if master receiver is turned on. I would expect it works also in some kind of stand by mode (there is advanced or clock). this is not very confortable to first turn on sat receiver in one room to be able to watch the tv in another room
2. i was expecting that my sat receiver will have web browsing, you tube browser and so on. unfortunatelly, there no such option in the menu. probably, it is possible to enable it with some trick but i don't know how
3. currently, i am not able to connect to sat receiver via 8080, i have got problem with password, which was not changed but does not work. i saw one recommendation on the net, but it doesnt work also. furthermore, i do not know how to connect to my satelite using ftp or ssh or in some different way from my XP pc, e.g. to be able to enalble disabled functionalities.
4. i bought 1TB external USB HDD. i can connect it to sattelite, i can connect it to pc, but files which i see in pc are not shown in the pvr menu and vice versa (recorded programs are not visible using pc). I tried to format it in many ways, directly from satellite menu, using program in my XP, format FAT32,EXT and so on .. but no result. If i am using my USB stick 256 MB, i see files on satellite and also on my pc, recoredd files from setelite are in folder named by the program and time when it was recorded. Furthermore, if i connect my 32 gb usb stick corsair, my sat receiver freezes.

Many thanks for any answer, any link to some kind of better technical tutorial.

Lubos

firstly you have the baby bro to the 9700 same as me

why would somthing work while it is turned off? you can only share a card as the box is getting the keys in real time to send to the other box

there is nothing apart from using it as a sat box, there is no youtube ect, that is the 9700 as its a twin lnb

mate you must be really bad at pc`s, you cant just record of the sat box and think it will work in a pc IT WONT!!!! its not avi`s or anything like that, it is only for recording and play back via the box only

the 8080 thing has been posted a lot, you can ip@8080 to it but use password 0000 <<<< four zeros

i have a 160gb i just hooked up to my bp black panther, you do it this way, turn on box, go to hdd managerment, when it says nothing there, plug in usb, then click again, go in a format

1.
why would somthing work while it is turned off?
Not turned off. Stand by mode. Clocks are running. PVR Scheduler is able to start recording. So of course, the system is on in power safe mode and it is just question of software if it will or will not support getting keys from card by another receiver using LAN

2.
YouTube - again, it it just question of software. I have no idea why it should have anything with LNB, we are talking about linux system connected to LAN and through it to internet. It is able to download update from internet. So again, only question of proper software to be able to browse internet.
By the way, i know the guy who have got it working, and probably I will have to contact him, althought I didn't want, I thought that everything is on net.

3.
i am working in it industry in software companies for more than 12 years. I said, that I am not a linux specialist, which is not equal to that I am IT analfabeth.
i know that it supports mpeg. i can connect USB stick with mpeg and play it via blacklink. I don't care about the format, which is recorded by medialink. My problem is, that I can not connect 1 tb usb external hdd in tha way that I will be able to see my mpegs ... i could not find common system format (thought it should be fat32) ... again , althought it is working with FAT32 USB stick.

4. heard a lot about 0000 pasword, but it doesn't work

5.
it doesn't format my 1tb hdd, it records on it without having it formated to its own format, but it dowsn't recognize my mpegs amd mp3s copied from PC.

I had/have the same problem's

2. The manual shows (You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login) shows YouTube and a web browser, but this is not available.

3. I tried to format it in all possible mode's but no effect and the same problems as descibed above. I "solved" the problem by using a WD TV Live, which shows the files in the correct way.

4. use You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login  and login:admin and password works
