MediaPortalSetup_Disaster_Edition1.1.0_RC1

This is the special MediaPortal release from now on called Disaster Edition. It is based on MP 1.1 SVN but does include some important features which I need and MP does not have at the moment. This build is NOT supported by the MP Team but is permitted by them :-) So if you plan something like me on your own please be so kind and ask the team.

Features / Patches in the latest release:
- includes NEW recording option "weekly everytime" on channel X (f.e. Dr. House, all shows on thursday every week)
- selection of "only basic home", "only normal home" or normal home + basic home (under skin settings)
- play dvd from harddrive / networkdrive
- manual recording cleanup in tvserver possible
- skip mediainfo for .ts files when start playing (faster playback on slower networks for recordings)
- watch recordings without rtsp (so f.e. comskip is working)
- IRSS patch so that IRSS is restarted after initialisation of minidisplay
- no key press sound when you watch a show or play music
- using thumb jpg file in same path of recording if present
- modified dshowhelper for hopefully more stutterfree playback

MediaPortal 1.1.0 RC3 released

In this release we again managed to fix several nasty issues, such as memory leaks. These fixes have increased the stability of the entire application even more.

We also made a small change which will make reporting bugs or posting support request threads a LOT easier for our great community.

Important changes since 1.1.0 RC2:

MediaPortal 1.1.0 RC5 RELEASED



Here it is, the last Release Candidate for 1.1.0!

RC5 focuses on the last remaining, showstopper issues. If no new showstoppers are found in this release, then MediaPortal 1.1.0 final will follow in a few weeks.

Important changes since 1.1.0 RC4:

There were some changes done since the last stable release which require Extensions (Skins and Plugins) to update, to be fully 1.1.0 RC5 compatible.

MediaPortal 1.2.0 Alpha RELEASED!


New Skin Engine Features:

We added some very nice new features to the skin engine. However, some of these changes do require that skins are updated to work properly with 1.2.0.

The list of skin related changes between 1.1.x and 1.2.0 can be found on the related wiki pages in our new wiki. Although the new wiki is not quite ready for public beta testing, we wanted to provide our skin designers and testers advanced access to the updated documentation for the 1.2.0 alpha release.

There is no need to register or login to browse our new wiki since it is only available for browsing at present.· We will be issuing a news release about the wiki once it is ready for public beta test.

Skin designers should keep track of the new wiki pages regarding any additions we make as we are still in the process of documenting the many new skin features.
Videos Enhancements:

Deda has taken our Videos feature to a whole new level. He has added several new features, as well as speedups and bug fixes.

These changes will upgrade your videos database. After the upgrade, the database will no longer work with older MediaPortal versions. This is an important consideration when testing 1.2.0 Alpha.

These changes are already fully documented on the Video Database 1.2.0 page in the Configuration section of the new wiki.

Note: Users of the FanArt Handler Extension have to wait for a new, 1.2.0 compatible version.
Smooth Video Playback:

Owlsroost has spent the last few months on enhancing the video playback of MediaPortal. The result of his work is now part of 1.2.0 alpha. Check it out!
Speedup:

We made several significant changes which improve the overall responsiveness of MediaPortal.· In some cases you will see response times reduced by over 50%. See if you can spot them!

Installation Notes:

Extensions:

* Before you install 1.2.0 ALPHA - make sure you disable or remove incompatible versions of the extensions (plugins & skins) you use.
* Incompatible plugins will not work and could stall MediaPortal completely (you need to wait for the author to update the plugins)
* Incompatible Skins will throw a warning when you start MediaPortal (you need to wait for the author to update the skin)

MediaPortal 1.1.0 installation present:·

* The installer will allow you to simply "upgrade" to 1.2.0 ALPHA.

* Please reboot your PC after the installation/update has finished. This might not be required, yet we recommend it.

MediaPortal 1.2.1 final released

Last week we released 1.2.0 final which has been a huge success already! The Team could have taken a break after the hard work on 1.2.0, and relax a bit, but we did not.

During the last week we have been working on a 1.2.1 hot fix, that will address a few issues in 1.2.0. The focus of this release is on major issues. The hot fixes to come later will contain more fixes and also address some minor issues.

Changelog:

3715 - MediaPortal crashes on exit
Under some circumstances it is possible that MediaPortal.exe crashes when you close it. Mainly systems running for a very long time are affected.
3688 - scanning for analog radio stations makes TV-Guide unusable
3718 - under special circumstances, TV-Service will crash on start up
This occurs if the WMC plugin for the Hauppauge Colossus or HD-PVR is installed.
3720 - update of satellite transponders inside TV-Server Configuration is not working
We previously grabbed the transponder lists directly from the FastSatfinder.com website. Due to load issues this cause for FastSatfinder.com, this is no longer possible, and when you attempt to update them in 1.2.0 or ealier, all your transponder lists are deleted.
The team from fastsatfinder has kindly agreed to continue support for us with updated transponder lists which we will host on our own web servers. So 1.2.1 will now download the transponder lists directly from our server.
1.2.1 has the latest Transponder lists integrated.
3723 - default graph behaviour for TV-Cards entering idle state is "pause" instead of "stop"
In 1.2.0 we introduced a new feature that can decrease the time required to tune/change channels by not destroying the graph when the card enters idle state. The related "Advanced Tuning" options are "pause" (keep the graph) and "stop" (destroy the graph). Sadly, during a clean installation of 1.2.0, the default option was set to "pause". Although the "pause" option does give you the speed improvement, it is not supported by many TV-cards (drivers issue). Thus, in 1.2.1 the safer "stop" option is now set as the default. If you did a clean installation of 1.2.0 and now upgrade to 1.2.1, the current setting will change to "stop" for all your TV-Cards. This should ensure maximum stability for all users. If you want to use "pause" instead of "stop", then you have to reset that option in TV-Server Configuration.
