New 3D ch from Discovery/Sony/Imax

This week sees the giant CES entertainment technology show open its doors in Vegas. Announcements will come thick and fast, and 3D seems to be on top of the list.
First up, and following on from an ESPN channel in 3D already reported, will see an announcement from Discovery which is understood to be partnering with Sony and theatrical distribution exhibitor Imax on a 3D channel.
Evidently the three will own equal shares in the new TV channel. There is as yet no news on whether the channel â€" at least as it is presently formed â€" will launch outside North America.
However, the channel is not for today! A start date of next year, 2011, is being mooted when sets will be more plentiful â€" and a little cheaper.
