cyfrowy_polsatPoland’s DTH operator Cyfrowy Polsat says it finished 2009 with 3.2m DTH subs, helped by adding a net new 286,000 subs during the pre-holiday Q4 period.
Cyfrowy Polsat says this places it as Europe’s Number 4 DTH operator behind BSkyB, Canalsat in France and News Corp’s Sky Italia.
“I am very happy with our sales and the growth of the number of subscribers last year. Our results are in line with the company’s strategic aims. The fourth quarter and December saw one of the best results in the number of new subscribers in the history of Cyfrowy Polsat,†Dominik Libicki, President of the Board at Cyfrowy Polsat, said.
An additional 700,000 homes received free-to-air channels via a Polsat receiver. Overall some 28% of Polish homes (3.9m) now access TV via a Polsat set-top box.
