Initiated by French ministry of Culture, a report offers to set up a “Google Tax†on online ad revenues so as to improve the provision of cultural goods on the internet and finance their creation.
Co-signed by Patrick Zelnik, CEO of independent music label Naïve, former minister of Culture Jacques Toubon and Guillaume Cerutti who presides over Sotheby's France, this report has introduced several proposals whose global costs would amount to â,¬50m in 2010 then â,¬35m to â,¬40m in 2011 and 2012.
A tax on online ad revenues would help finance the measures. It would concern the ad revenues generated in France by European companies.
