Apparently Spain is fulfilling its workload for DTT with its national analogue switch off due in a few month's time.
Spain's analogue switch off is scheduled for April 3rd, and some parts of the country are already wholly converted. A total of 77.4% of the nation's homes already watch television through DTT, significantly up on the 43.7% number of a year ago.
A fresh report from Spain's Impulsa TDT promotion company says that last year was key in the decision-making process for householders, and that the take-up was rapid with more than 50% of homes having bought converter boxes (or new integrated TVs) by March last year. Some 10m boxes were bought in 2009 with 6m bought in the period of May to November helped by an intensive marketing campaign by Impulsa.
Taken together (boxes and TV sets) some 24.2m "equipments" were bought last year. There are some regions (Aragon 86.1, Canary Island 85.3%, % of homes converted) where the response has been excellent, but other regions where there is still work to do ahead of absolute switch off.
