sky_deutschlandNews Corp will put the planned augmentation of its shareholding in Sky Deutschland into reality: As part of the capital increase announced in December 2009, which will take place this week, News Corp’s stake will rise from 39.96% to 45.42%.
News Corp will pay â,¬2.25 per share, thereby giving the pay-TV broadcaster a â,¬110m cash injection. Sky Deutschland wants to use the fresh capital for boosting its marketing and sales activities to gain new subscribers. Also, the HDTV offer will be increased by four new channels in mid-2010 with Sky having renting additional transponder capacity from satellite operator SES Astra for the move.
Further investments will go into programmes and the launch of new channels.
