International Launch Services (ILS), which uses the giant Proton rocket in Kazakhstan to launch satellites, has won the contract to place SES-3 into orbit.
SES-3, which weighs some 3 tonnes, is the SES World Skies craft, built by Orbital Sciences, and planned for service over the Americas.
ILS will also launch the Kazsat-2 craft at the same time. Launch is scheduled for 2011.
