YANGON, Feb. 11 (Xinhua) - Myanmar Radio and Television (MRTV-3), an international channel, began its trial airing on Thursday in new form and essence, according to the station.

Aimed at letting the international community know the country’s national trends, progress, beauty, nature and prevailing conditions of Myanmar and helping Myanmar nationals abroad ease the pain of homesickness, the round-the-clock channel will be aired for trial from Feb. 11 to March 26 and the regular broadcasts will start on March 27, the sources said.

Over the trial period, well-edited television documentaries, programme trailers and branding trailers in the current affairs, and greetings of foreigner news presenters will be broadcast together with regular programme, it added.

The MRTV, established 60 years ago, is carrying out heavy functions and is striving to air quality radio and TV programme across the country, extending functions to link countrywide network by converting analog system into digital one, and expanding coverage to other countries.

The MRTV began with four channels including Myanmar and English languages to telecast news, education and entertainment programme since colour television was introduced in the country in 1980.

Meanwhile, the military-run Myawaddy TV, which is next to MRTV, started telecasting in March 1995 and has morning and evening services at present.

In cooperation with China Central Television (CCTV), Cable Networks News (CNN) and the Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK), there are satellite news available with the MRTV.
