Hughes’ Network Systems has announced the availability of the 9350 BGAN mobile satellite terminal, which has been approved for operation over Inmarsat’s Broadband Global Area Network satellite service.

It is said that this mobile satellite terminal is ideal for vehicular applications. It offers high performance connectivity of up to 400kpbs while on the move even in the most demanding environments.

Hughes 9350 is the successor to the field proven 9250 BGAN terminal. Avis dwelt on the cabalities of 9350 at length and claimed that the current BGAN terminal had a host of advanced features. Equipped with a Wi-Fi hot spot on wheel while operating in parallel with data, voice and messaging services, it was fully functional anywhere under the Inmarsat BGAN footprint.

It is claimed that multiple users can send and receive Ip packet data via Ethernt, USB, and WLAN interfaces in a land vehicular application. In parallel with the packet data services, it is said that the terminal supports circuit switched RJ-11 voice or fax calls and full ISDN support.

Highlighting the features of Hughes 9350, the company claims that this IP compatible satellite terminal can be easily installed and is ready for use in minutes. Streaming data can co-exist with other services because the terminal offers selectable Quality of Service levels.
