Satellite News: ESPN Hopes for Strong 3-D TV Impact

ESPN believes that 3-D HD live event broadcasts will be very important for the company’s future, ESPN Executive Vice President of Technology Chuck Pagano told Satellite News.

Earlier this year, the broadcaster announced that it would launch the ESPN 3D channel, showcasing a minimum of 85 live sporting events during its first year, beginning with the first 2010 FIFA World Cup match on June 11 between South Africa and Mexico.

It is a new way of telling the story and reaching audiences that are intrigued by this new way of watching a story unfold,” said Pagano.
