BEIJING -- Archie Kao, star of U.S. hit TV series "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," on Monday joined director Wayne Wang's "Snow Flower and the Secret Fan" as the male lead in the feature film about love between two 19th century Chinese women.

Kao, who recently played the lead in director Quentin Lee's romantic comedy "The People I've Slept With," joined Wang's English-language film, now shooting at the Hengdian World Studio outside Shanghai, his representative at Convergence Entertainment said.

The film stars Chinese actress Li Bingbing and South Korean actress Jeon Ji-Hyun ("Blood: The Last Vampire") and is based on Lisa See's bestselling U.S. novel.

The script is by Wang ("The Joy Luck Club") and Michael Ray ("The Princess of Nebraska") and the film is being co-produced by Wendi Murdoch, whose husband is News Corp. chairman Rupert Murdoch, and Florence Sloan, who is married to MGM chairman Harry Sloan.

The cast also recently added Hugh Jackman in a cameo and saw Li Bingbing replace Zhang Ziyi.
