2.5 million pay-TV households in Portugal

Number of households with pay TV in Portugal has risen in the fourth quarter of 2009 of 10.6% to 2.5 million. These figures relate to all platforms (cable, DTH, IPTV, etc.) and they mean an increase of 85.000, compared with the previous quarter and about 243.000 per year. Cable networks represent 57% of subscriber base pay-TV DTH 16%, and IPTV 1.2%.

Number of households with cable television to 4.3 million - 0.6% more than in the previous quarter and 2.1% more per year. The development is due mainly expansion Zon TV Cabo in the northern part of the country. Group Zon / TV Cabo recorded a decrease in market shares of 2.2% to 64.4%. Portugal Telecom is second with 23% share, while the third Cabovisăo of 10.2%.

Farms receiving via the optical fiber cable is 31.000, which is twice the number than in 2008.
