Onda will sell cell one-seg phones in Brazil

The Italian company Onda will commercialize one-seg cell phones in the Brazilian market and 100.000 devices are expected to be sold over 2010. The first set of handsets will be imported but the following devices will be produced by the manufacturer Evadin, located in Manaus.

The first terminal will be a touch screen cell pone fitted with digital TV receiver, and will be offered at a lower price as compared with other devices available in Brazil. The commercial offer will start in the 2Q10, initially for TIM. According to what Onda's President for Latin America, Vincenzo Di Giorgio, explained to the bulletin Teletime, the idea is to take advantage of the South African Soccer World Cup 2010.

The other model, which will be launched during the second half of this year, is a device that offers social network access and is targeted to the young sector. "It will be a very colorful Blackberry for young people", Di Giorgio explained.
