Geneva-headquartered set-top box provider Advanced Digital Broadcast (ADB) has won a contract with Norwegian service provider Altibox to provide two models of HD-capable IPTV set-top box as part of Altibox's plans for expansion of its fibre-based IPTV services.

ADB will be providing its ADB-5812WX model, an advanced HD-capable IPTV digital video recorder with home networking features, and its ADB-2810W model, an entry-level HD IPTV set-top box enabled for a home networked environment.

“We chose ADB to supply our new IPTV consumer premise equipment for a number of reasons: the company is a leader in the IPTV space across Europe, and has a good track record in the Nordic region,” said Jarle Johnsen Head of Engineering TV/Media at Altibox. “It also has an innovative approach to delivering new and compelling functionalities such as the ability to view DivX content, multi-room content convergence, and enhanced 3D graphical user interfaces [...] The new devices will also give us a platform for launching future interactive services to meet consumers’ changing tastes.”

Altibox products and services are offered by 35 partners (mainly energy providers) across Norway from Harstad in the north to Mandal in the south, with around 145,000 customers currently receiving Altibox services.
