Russian mobile companies and pay-TV operators are looking to OTT with increased interest.

According to Kommersant, a company named Netris, which is a manufacturer and integrator of TV software, has already agreed to establish what is termed a “pilot OTT zone” for Vas Media, on behalf of the mobile operator MegaFon.

Netris has also understood to have introduced an IPTV solution with the ability to offer OTT for the West Siberian branch of Transtelecom (TTC).

The mobile companies MTS and Vimpelcom are also interested in OTT, while the cable operator Akado would like to create its own OTT platform.

Despite this, problems may be encountered with copyright and devising OTT business models that are likely to work in the Russian market.
