Megacable recorded an 89% increase in its digital cable base

The greatest Mexican Pay-TV operator Megacable recorded 311,726 digital cable users in the last quarter of 2009, that is, an 89% increase if compared with the 164,899 subscribers recorded over the same period in 2008. The company carried out its digitalization process with Motorola. In the whole Pay-TV segment, the operator added 1,592,841 users, a 7% increase against the 1,482,761 subscribers recorded in 2008.

Video incomes accounted for the 64% of total incomes, reaching USD 90 millions, that is, an 11% increase if compared with figures recorded in the fourth quarter of 2008. The Mexican company recorded USD 140 million total incomes, that is, an additional 15% to what was recorded over the same period in the previous year. In the fourth quarter of 2009, the company's net earnings reached USD 52 millions.

Megacable, which operates in 24 Mexican states and in about 200 municipalities, stated through a press release that "as of December 31, 2009, the coaxial fiber optic network passed across 4,6 million homes, with a 31,619 KM extension and a 91% bidirectional percentage". The company carried out its digitalization process with Motorola and recorded a 21% increase in its Internet client base and a 50% increase in its telephony client base.
