BDA- unveils official 3D Blu-ray logo, tub-thumps format at CES

The Blu-ray Disc- Association- has formally unveiled the official (and somewhat retro-looking) 3D Blu-ray logo at CES and tub-thumped the ongoing success of the format. According to spokesman Andy Parson BD hardware continues to shift faster than DVD did at comparative times in its ,Dobe7777, evolution.
Four years in, the total number of US Blu-ray homes stands at 17.6 million units, compared to 14.1 million DVD units over the same period.

2009’-s- sales stats are certainly impressive. During 2009 the number of BD-equipped households jumped by more than 75 per cent over 2008 (thank you PS3!). Software sales doubled during the same period-.

Predictably- Blu-ray was described as the ‘ideal 3D platform’ during the press conference. Parsons also noted that the format was not being hit by the rapid expansion of online video delivery services-
