Latens joins IBC upgraders

Just about every technology company uses the giant IBC trade show to bring out their latest gizmos, and Belfast-based conditional access company Latens is no exception.
Latens is showcasing its latest software-based CA, version ECO 4.1 for cable and IPTV deployment. “This new release broadens the scope of Latens ECO, a single platform combining middleware and conditional access, bringing true multi screen convergence to both cable and IPTV operators,” said the company.
"There is an elemental change in the way people are consuming content. The consumer is truly at the heart of making TV an everywhere and anywhere entertainment experience to fit with their lifestyle and schedule. In response to this we are bringing state of the art technologies and next generation features and services to the TV through the latest development in our ECO middleware," said Jeremy Thorp, Latens' CEO.
Latens ECO 4.1 highlights include:
* Over the Top TV allowing operators to enhance and differentiate the TV viewing experience by adding applications widgets and integrating web content, including the viewer's favourite RSS feeds, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook and Flickr.
* Whole Home DVR which gives subscribers the ability to access, play, pause, rewind and fast-forward HD and SD DVR recordings from any Latens ECO connected device in the home.
* Remote DVR allows subscribers to schedule and manage recordings on their home DVR from virtually anywhere on a web enabled device.
* The new Latens Dashboard, an intuitive management interface that provides a single dashboard view of the health of the pay TV platform. This real time information system allows for rapid diagnostics of any potential problems, minimising any service disruption and maximising Quality of Service. Latens Dashboard is an addition to the company's world class customer service and support package that provides pay TV operators with proactive product support.
* New User Interface (UI) customisation capabilities allowing operators to increase brand image and awareness throughout their TV platform.
