UPC Direct start of a new position: Wider range, better quality and HD programs
UPC launches DTH service UPC Direct operation of the new orbital positions of satellites 0.8W Thor 5 and Thor 6 Audience waiting for more programs in a better technical quality, including a package of channels in high definition (HDTV).

The advantage of position 0.8°W is the tradition of Czech, Slovak, but also the Hungarian market. Moreover, the position of 0.8°W fond of many smaller broadcasters for dissemination of Slovak FTA programs - Live TV, TV8.SK, Musiq1, MusicBox, TV Lux, CETV, TV Patriot and many radio stations in Slovakia.
Another argument for the position of 0.8°W was also the possibility of working together with paid services from other countries - notably the Nordic pay-TV platform Canal Digital. After the agreement will be the Canal Digital Group and UPC DTH, service providers, offering some programs together. It will be the programs in both high and standard definition video (HDTV, SD). Both entities will save not only money for the duplication of distribution but also the capacity, which can then be used for other programs and services.

More programs and better quality
Who is waiting just moving services and realignment of parabolas to another position, will be pleasantly surprised. Operator reinforces basic channel package Medium (formerly known as the Family) and also a second larger package of channels Direct + (formerly Plus). In addition to the expected programs such as COOL Prima, TV at home, JOJ Plus STV2, STV3, a menu will appear as a completely new program that will premiere here for DTH reception - Nickelodeon. Other new stations are already known from competing platforms.

New programs in the package Direct +
Direct + package will be the first time since its establishment expanded. The current offer seven channels will strengthen two thematic channels AXN - AXN Crime and AXN Sci-Fi. Both the post with the Czech dubbing or subtitling DVB.
New services and programs in high definition
In addition to the existing packages, Medium, Direct +, and extra bonus programs Hustler TV, HBO (HBO, HBO2, HBO Comedy), Cinemax, NSFW Xtreme created two new premium packages that you can order a menu of basic medium.
This package is less expensive product called Filmbox containing only two SD channels and film distribution company SPI International - namely Filmbox Extra Filmbox and Family.
Completely new service will be at UPC Direct Direct HD. Package of channels in high definition (HDTV). Viewers will find HD TV station (mix CT1, CT2, CT4), Nova HD, Nova Sport HD, ESPN HD America, Nat Geo HD, History HD, Rush HD. The operator will also offer HBO HD Czech, which will automatically be available only to customers who purchase HBO (HBO, HBO2, HBO Comedy) and Cinemax (Cinemax, Cinemax 2).
Necessary for HD broadcasts using an operator of its DVB-S2 transponder. It is interesting that 5 of the six broadcast HD programs in the Czech language (the Czech and Slovak market). More HD programs are on the transponder Canal Digital.
In the next period, UPC plans to expand DTH offer additional HD channels - Discovery HD and Animal Planet HD. The term inclusion in tender has not yet been announced.

UPC Direct from its new position, 0.8°W becomes a progressive player in the market, which can provide better technical quality, wider channel package, and thanks to excellent attractive programs in high definition quality in the "distribution - that is the highest possible technical quality. This segment gives a hard blow especially Skylink platform, which has so far been the only service with the largest number of channels in HD.
