February 23, 2010

Share Motorola is planning to combine the features of its set-top boxes and mobile phones, and will add its social networking application MOTOBLUR to its set-tops, according to The Wall Street Journal, quoting the company's co-CEO Sanjay Jha.

MOTOBLUR currently runs on Motorola's Android handsets such as the Motorola Droid, and provides quick access to social networks such as Facebook and Twitter, as well as close address book integration. Mr. Jha told The Wall Street Journal that Motorola has considered sharing an operating system across both phones and set-top boxes in order to enable users to share photos, videos and other multimedia with their TV screen more efficiently, and expressed a growing interest in Microsoft's new Windows Phone 7 Series operating system.

According to the reports, Motorola set-top boxes featuring the MOTOBLUR application could be available later this year.
