ABERTIS INTEGRATES 1rd3t0 TO STRENGTHEN ITS TDT PREMIUM DIGITAL CONTENT SECURITY

24 February 2010

Abertis leverages 1rd3t0 Conditional Access System to offer Spanish TV operators secure and robust content protection for digital terrestrial TV services

AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands – 24 February 2010 – 1rd3t0, a leading expert in content and business model protection solutions and services, today announced its full compatibility with Abertis Telecom’s TDT Premium content protection solution. 1rd3t0 and Abertis Telecom, one of the leading telecommunications infrastructure and services operators in Europe, have worked to validate the 1rd3t0 Conditional Access System (CAS) integration into Abertis Telecom’s open digital terrestrial TV TDT Premium platform. This milestone will give Spanish TV operators a choice of downloadable CA systems over the Abertis network, offering them a secure, flexible and robust content protection solution for digital terrestrial TV services.

The flexibility of 1rd3t0's CAS, gives Abertis the capability to offer to any TV operator interested in a TDT Premium platform, not only a choice, but an option of different business models in order to comply to any specific request of the TV operators. Such a joined activity between 1rd3t0 and Abertis, a result of successful trials of the 1rd3t0 CAS with the Abertis TDT Platform, reflects the natural open behaviour of the Abertis Pay DTT technical proposition.

Abertis Telecom’s TDT Premium solution is capable of downloading and updating 1rd3t0's CAS software over-the-air which features built-in mechanisms for the prevention against card attacks, meaning operators can protect their content against theft or control word sharing piracy. 1rd3t0's unique anti-piracy method enforces security, which is especially critical in regions where we continue to experience high levels of illegal downloads and hacking.

"It is critical to protect the revenue streams of content producers and operators, and giving them greater choice when broadening their TV offerings,” said David Canellos, senior vice president of sales and marketing at 1rd3t0. “The 1rd3t0 CAS allows operators to securely and cost-effectively expand their media service businesses in response to changing consumer demands and growing threats. We look forward to working with Abertis to achieve our mutual goal of delivering advanced services to the Spanish DTT market."
