PrimeTel signs with On Demand Group for VOD content

IBC 2009: Greek telco PrimeTel, based on the island of Cyprus, has signed a contract with On Demand Group to expand the amount of video-on-demand content available on its IPTV service.

On Demand Group, a subsidiary of SeaChange which recently opened a new headquarters in London to provide customers with access to an integrated suite of services and technologies, will be providing PrimeTel with a package of on-demand content including the latest blockbuster movies and what is claimed to be the largest SVOD selection in Greek and other languages.

“To an operator looking to grow its TV business and satisfy customer demand, the value of On Demand Group starts with its stable of premium content, but is uniquely rounded out by its proven capacity to help us market the service with success,” said Stephanos Stephanou, Marketing Manager of PrimeTel. “PrimeTel has turned to On Demand Group for its top studio and network relationships and attractive content, but most importantly because of the company’s expertise in the Greek market.”

PrimeTel had reached around 22,000 subscribers for its IPTV service by the end of 2008, up from around 11,000 one year previously. PrimeTV offers over 150 linear channels, as well as a VOD library, on-screen Caller ID, network PVR and timeshifting
